Name: Jevon Stone
Age: 38
Birthday: February 28th
Height: 5'10"
Physical Description: Jevon is on the thin side. He has sandy hair and gray eyes, with heavy lids. He seldom smiles, and his nose is slightly hooked. Jevon has long fingers, and he takes exceptional care of his hands. He dresses nicely, and often wears a hat to conceal a hairline beginning to recede. One would think he dislikes wearing the baggy jumpsuits, but he likes keeping his clothes and self clean, so he's actually just fine with them. Jevon is always clean-shaven; if this isn't the case, something is terribly wrong. His eyebrows are thin and highly arched, lending him an expression that looks like he finds something disagreeable about the way the world smells. He often wears glasses, but his vision is mostly passable without them.
Profession/Role: Ghostbuster/Psychologist
Talents:
♥ Intellectual Talent: Psychology. Jevon has a clinical understanding of the way the human brain works, and the complexities of emotions and motivations. He has a broad knowledge of mental conditions and ailments.
♥ Technical Talent: Cello. Jevon is an exceptional cellist, and if he were so inclined, he could perform professionally in a city orchestra.
♥ Physical Talent: Swimming. Jevon is an exceptional swimmer, and can hold his breath for extended periods of time.
♥ Interpersonal Talent: Arguing. Jevon can keep his cool in an argument, pointing out logical fallacies, and will resort to provoking tempers or bluffing about local laws and legal procedures in order to get into places the Ghostbusters probably shouldn't go.
Failings:
♥ Intellectual Failing: Engineering. Jevon doesn't know much about machines and electronics. He can use them, but making them work is for lower class citizens. He has no interest in learning beyond the bare minimum of basic usage.
♥ Technical Failing: Cleaning. Jevon is accustomed to having others paid to pick up after him, so he doesn't have any good organizational habits, and he doesn't know how to do simple household chores.
♥ Physical Failing: Brawling. NOT IN THE FACE!
♥ Interpersonal Failing: Shallow connections. Jevon is good at making business contacts, but he's not really close to anyone, and has a difficult time understanding and appreciating the value of friendship. He gets lonely at times.
Background
Family: Jevon has no siblings. He spent little time with his parents, and although he respects them and wishes them well, there isn't a fierce affection either. They had a son because it was simply the thing to do, and his rearing came more from childraising books and nannies. He had everything he needed and more, except for quality bonding time. If he ever spent time with his parents, it was at social functions where he was expected to dress keenly and be a perfect little gentleman.
Education: Jevon attended private schools, and went to Harvard where he was allowed to take any major he wished. It wouldn't matter; his family was old money, funded from investments, inheritances, and wealthy connections. Secretly he wanted to be a cellist, but as his parents frowned on the idea of raising a musician, he studied psychology instead to suit their preferences of having an intellectual son. He was fascinated by the complicated emotions and mental behaviors of others, particularly as he experienced very few of these things himself. His interest in parapsychology began when he made the connection that most ghosts were likely to be troubled people who died without getting the help they needed.
History: (PDX15 history) Jevon was skeptical of reports of ghosts in New York. He didn't really believe in ghosts and spooks as he'd never heard of anything happening around his neck of the woods (so to speak), so it wasn't until his penthouse was haunted by an angry poltergeist that had been screwed over by one of Jevon's ancestors that he was forced to conclude that ghosts were very much a reality. In a tight spot, he was forced to confront the ghost, speak to it, and convince it to let go of the past so it could find peace. He found the experience to be emotionally satisfying, and he showed up the next day at the Ghostbuster headquarters claiming that he was joining the team as a practicing parapsychologist to help other spirits pass on. NOTE: This history can be played out in other episodes for different AU settings.
Goals: Jevon would like to be a world class cellist, but he finds spirit-soothing to be far more gratifying. He earnestly, genuinely wants to help people find peace, as it's the only way he feels at peace himself.
Personality
Likes: Hired housecleaning, classical music, ballroom dancing, cultural events, classic literature, collecting small knick-knacks of spun glass, art, quality tea, fried food, lavender
Dislikes: Old Spice, birds (phobia), puns, screaming children/babies, bodybuilders, men with long hair, criminals, cheerleaders, taking out the trash, tattooes, facial and body piercings, coffee
Strengths: When dealing with difficult people, Jevon can keep his cool, while provoking others to irrational behavior. He's an exceptionally skilled psychologist, clinical and detached from subjects and probing quickly to the heart of the matter. He has several higher connections due to his family name, and can often get his teammates past bureaucratic red tape (though it isn't guaranteed). He has access to a personal trust fund for monetary emergencies. Even if he has problems connecting with people, he does have a strong compassionate streak and a desire to help people (living or dead). He'll listen, but he'll also try to prescribe a professional solution. He doesn't have as big an ego as others might presume, and as such he doesn't have difficulty following another person's lead...so long as that person knows what they're doing. He won't follow fools.
Weaknesses: Jevon has difficulties expressing affection for others, and stiffens up when hugged. He knows what a hug is and what it's meant to do, but he has no idea how to handle it otherwise. He's not accustomed to being liked, and gets confused when others seem to genuinely like him. He's petrified of birds and the diseases they carry. He'll scream if a bird even comes close to touching him. He's also something of a coward when it comes to hostile ghosts that can't be reasoned with. He has no desire to die, and will run from dangerous situations unless he has no choice but to blast the ghost (for his sake or someone else's). Because his parents disapprove of his profession as a ghostbuster, they no longer send him a weekly allowance, paying only for his penthouse and housecleaning.
Relations: TBD
OOC Notes
Player's Name: Eve
Contact Info: Faetan via Plurk, RainaMoonsinger via AIM, PM okay
OOC Goals: Would like to introduce him via an episode, but I'm okay with predetermining how he joins a team and just starting from there. A haunted symphony hall would be right up his alley. Talking down troubled spirits and people is also his specialty. I don't mind if he winds up being the straight man for situations that end up annoying him.
OOC Preferences: As long as nothing openly conflicts with his core values, I'm pretty open.
Permissions: Yes, but please check with me first. I don't need much, just a brief overview on what he's going to be doing/saying.
